Qbits warranty and service terms: Qbits public datasheets describe an expandable warranty but do not define a universal duration, remedy, registration deadline, service SLA, or exclusions. Obtain the current written terms for the exact model and sale before relying on a headline claim.
ALMM and inverter compliance: MNRE’s current ALMM page publishes solar PV module and cell lists, not an inverter list. Verify the inverter’s exact model documents and applicable scheme or DISCOM requirements separately.
Growatt inverters appear on a large share of rooftop quotations in India. This review looks at what Growatt itself publishes: its datasheets, its warranty page and its India contact page. It names the real model families, shows the datasheet figures for one representative model from each, and lists the questions to settle before you buy. It does not score the brand, rank it against others or quote prices.
How to read this review
Each fact below comes from a Growatt document that was open on 14 October 2026, with the document named. Where a fact would need a source that is not public, such as a repair turnaround in your town or a price, the review says it cannot be stated. Regional versions of Growatt datasheets differ, so check the version that ships with your unit.
Brand opinions are deliberately left out. Growatt sells several families for different jobs, and a verdict on the brand would not tell you whether one specific model fits one specific roof.
Growatt in India: entity and contact
The Growatt India contact page lists Growatt New Projects Pvt Ltd, HydGreen Valley, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, Telangana 500034, with a toll-free number (1800 120 600 600), service email service.in@growatt.com and sales email info@growatt.com. Growatt’s datasheets list the manufacturer as Shenzhen Growatt New Energy Co., Ltd., Shenzhen, China. Source: Growatt contact page, read 14 October 2026.
An entity and an email address tell you where to send a claim. They do not tell you which technician visits your site, how long a spare takes to reach your town or whether the distributor that sold the unit stocks it. Ask the installer or distributor for the named service partner covering your pincode and for their recent claim history on the exact model.

A worked string check on the MIN 5000TL-X2
- Cold-morning limit. At a cell temperature of 5 °C, 20 °C below the 25 °C test condition, open-circuit voltage rises by about 5.8%, to roughly 52.8 V per module. The inverter’s maximum DC voltage is 550 V, so a string of 10 modules would reach about 528 V and stay under it, with some margin. The limit is a hard one, because exceeding it can damage the inverter.
- Hot-day limit. At a cell temperature of 70 °C, 45 °C above the test condition, maximum-power voltage falls by about 13%, to roughly 36.4 V per module. The MPPT window starts at 40 V, so even a short string of 2 modules would sit above the lower edge, though a string that short would be unusual.
- Current limit. The module’s short-circuit current of 13.9 A is under the 16 A per-tracker input limit and the 24 A short-circuit limit.
- Power limit. The datasheet lists 7,500 W as the maximum recommended PV power for the 5 kW model. Two strings of 6 modules is 6.6 kWp, which is under that figure and gives a DC-to-AC ratio of about 1.3.
A different module, a colder site or longer strings change every line, which is why the check belongs in the design and not in a rule of thumb. Ask the installer to show the same calculation for your own module and roof, with the temperature assumptions written down. The string-sizing calculator and the MPPT entry explain the same limits in more detail.
What the datasheets do not tell you
- Temperature derating. The datasheets give an operating temperature range, and they do not give the ambient temperature at which output starts to fall or by how much. On a hot flat roof that is the number that matters, so ask for the derating curve for the exact model. Do not rely on a figure from another site.
- Enclosure rating by family. The MIN X2 and MID X2 datasheets list IP66, and the SPH BL-UP lists IP65. The rating belongs to the model, not to the brand. For coastal sites check the rating and the corrosion protection for the exact model.
- Grid-code settings. A datasheet lists standards the product was tested to. It does not state the trip settings your DISCOM requires. The settings are applied at commissioning according to the DISCOM’s conditions.
- Export limiting. An earlier MIN 2500-6000TL-X datasheet listed export control as a feature, and the X2 datasheet’s headline features do not. If you need export limiting, confirm support and the required meter or sensor in writing for the exact model. See zero export.
What changes when you add a battery
The MIN on-grid models above have no battery port and no backup output. A hybrid changes the specification in three ways, and the datasheets show each.
Battery voltage class. The SPH 5000TL BL-UP uses a 42 to 59 V battery, a low-voltage class that suits 48 V lithium or lead-acid packs. The MOD 5000TL3-XH uses a high-voltage battery with a 600 to 950 V operating window and lists Growatt’s APX battery systems as the compatible product. You cannot freely mix the two classes, so the choice of inverter and the choice of battery are one decision.
Backup rating. The SPH 5000TL BL-UP has a 5,000 W grid-tied rating but a 4,000 W backup rating, and a 4,000 W continuous battery power. Loads that run during a power cut therefore have to fit inside the backup figure, not the grid-tied figure. The transfer time is listed as below 10 ms on that datasheet, and any claim about how a particular appliance behaves during transfer should come from the manufacturer for that appliance.
Compatibility is a document. A battery is supported when the manufacturer’s compatibility document names the exact inverter, battery and firmware. A matching connector or a communication protocol name is not evidence of that. The hybrid inverter entry and the battery sizing guide cover how to size the battery from the load.
Monitoring
Growatt’s product pages list the ShineWiFi-X, Shine4G-X, ShineLan-X and ShineLink-X communication accessories and the Growatt monitoring platform, and the datasheets list RS485 and USB as standard with Wi-Fi, GPRS, RF and LAN as options. In practice the accessory you need is part of the quote. Settle these before you buy:
- Does the model come with the logger or dongle, or is it a paid accessory?
- Does it need a Wi-Fi network at the inverter, or a SIM?
- Who owns the plant account, and how is it handed over if you change installers?
- Are per-tracker readings visible, or only totals?
- Which faults raise an alert, and who receives it?
Warranty as Growatt publishes it
The datasheets for the MIN, SPH and MID models above carry the line “Warranty: 5 years / 10 years: Yes / Optional”, and the MOD XH datasheet carries “Warranty: 10 years”. Growatt’s warranty page, read on 14 October 2026, adds the following:
- The standard period runs from the date of installation on the installation certificate, and cannot begin more than six months after Growatt’s delivery date.
- A warranty period written on the sales order overrides the standard period.
- A warranty extension may only be applied for within two years of installation.
- Under warranty, Growatt’s responsibility is service replacement and service repair.
- Growatt pays freight for warranted products to the original country or region of sale. Customers pay customs clearance and any freight for expired or voided products.
- Claims need the serial number, the original invoice or installation documents, a claim form and a fault description with error codes or photos.
- Exclusions include a broken seal, transport damage, incorrect installation, failure to follow the manual and force majeure such as lightning or overvoltage.
Certification and ALMM
MNRE’s ALMM page lists PV modules (List-I) and cells (List-II). It has no inverter list, so no Growatt inverter can be “ALMM listed”. The documents that matter for an inverter are its BIS registration, its test reports against IEC 62109 and IEC 62116 (the Indian standards are IS 16221 and IS 16169) and the DISCOM’s conditions. The MID X2 datasheet lists BIS in its certificate line. The MIN X2 datasheet lists international standards such as IEC 62116 and IEC 61727 and no Indian standard numbers. That does not show that a model is unregistered. It means you should ask for the registration record and certificate for the exact model before paying a deposit. For PM Surya Ghar, confirm any inverter condition with your DISCOM or the registered vendor. See the certification guide and the PM Surya Ghar guide.
Pricing
This review quotes no prices. Dealer and street prices vary by state, season, distributor and what the quote covers, and a figure copied from elsewhere goes stale quickly. When you compare two quotes, make sure both name the same array, mounting, cabling, protection, monitoring hardware, DISCOM application and commissioning, and read the exclusions. GST on solar equipment moved to 5% for the specified items from 22 September 2025, so check how your installer has classified a composite supply.
How Growatt compares with other brands
- Growatt and Sungrow. The Sungrow vs Growatt comparison sets the Growatt MIN 5000TL-X2 beside the Sungrow SG5.0RS-L on datasheet figures.
- Growatt and Solis. The Growatt vs Solis comparison does the same for the Solis S6-GR1P5K-S.
- Growatt, Sungrow and Qbits. The three-way comparison adds the Qbits QB-5KTLD. The Qbits vs Growatt comparison is the head-to-head.
For reference, the published Qbits QB-5KTLD datasheet lists two MPPTs with one string each, an 80 to 550 V MPPT range, 20 A per tracker, 5,000 W rated output with 5.5 kVA maximum, current THD below 2% at rated power, 98.1% maximum efficiency and IP66. The Qbits public datasheets do not define a base warranty term, so request the written warranty for the exact model before comparing it with Growatt’s. The Qbits on-grid inverter range lists the families.
Checklist before you buy a Growatt inverter
Who it can suit, and what to confirm
Growatt’s range spans residential single-phase, hybrid and commercial three-phase inverters, so one brand can supply a mixed project. A buyer who wants a hybrid should note that the SPH line uses low-voltage batteries and the MOD XH line uses Growatt’s high-voltage batteries, and that the choice drives the battery decision. A buyer in a district where the installer cannot name a service partner should settle that before choosing any imported brand. A buyer who needs a warranty term in writing before purchase should ask for the document and read it, because Growatt’s own page shows that the sales order can override the standard term.
Common mistakes
- Treating the MID series as a residential inverter.
- Assuming an inverter can be “ALMM listed.”
- Comparing a peak efficiency figure and ignoring the voltage window.
- Reading “5 years” without the start date, remedy and exclusions.
- Taking a datasheet from a distributor or reseller without checking it against the version supplied with the unit.
- Skipping the written service route for your pincode.

Where Qbits fits
- Hybrid inverters: review current QBH model documents and confirm the exact battery, firmware, PV, backup-output, transfer, communication, warranty and project requirements in writing.
- Authorised service partners: search the current directory, then confirm partner status, location coverage, service scope, response process and fees in writing.
If you want a Qbits datasheet on the same worksheet, send the array size, phase and backup requirement and ask for the exact model’s documents.
