Qbits Solar Inverter Warranty Documents: What to Get in Writing

Qbits datasheets describe an expandable warranty but do not fix the term, remedy, deadline or exclusions. Here are the clauses to obtain in writing first.

Before you accept a Qbits quote, ask for one document: the current written warranty for the exact inverter model printed on that quote. The public datasheet is not that document, and Qbits says so itself.

Short version. Every Qbits product page carries a note stating that the public datasheets describe an expandable warranty but do not define the base term, the remedy, the registration deadline, or the exclusions. Every product record on the site shows “Request current written terms” where a warranty period would normally sit. The support portal that handles warranty requests asks for a 12-digit serial number, so it serves existing owners rather than buyers. That leaves one correct action at the quote stage: obtain the written terms for your exact model, check them against the eleven clauses below, and decide afterwards.

What the public Qbits material does establish

Two things, and they are worth separating from what people assume.

It establishes that the warranty is expandable. The structure allows cover to be extended beyond a base period. That is a real and useful fact about the product family.

It establishes the model scope of the specification, because Qbits publishes per model datasheets. Efficiency, protection features, IP rating and communication options are model specific, and so is warranty cover. A term that applies to one series does not automatically apply to another.

That is the honest extent of it. Everything a claim actually turns on sits outside those documents.

What the public material does not define

The note published on every /our-products/ page is explicit. The public datasheets do not establish:

  • the base term, meaning the length of cover before any extension;
  • the remedy, meaning what Qbits will actually do when a unit fails;
  • the registration deadline, meaning the window in which you must register to keep cover;
  • the exclusions, meaning the conditions under which cover does not apply.

Those four gaps are not trivia. They are the entire financial substance of a warranty. A long headline period with a narrow remedy and an early registration deadline is worth less than a shorter period with a clear replacement obligation and no registration trap. This is the general point covered in our guide to solar inverter warranty in India, and it applies to every brand, Qbits included.

Because those four are undefined in public material, this article does not tell you a Qbits warranty period, and you should be careful with any source that does without showing you the document behind it. A number you cannot trace to a dated, model specific document is not a number you can rely on when you need to make a claim.

The warranty request route, and what it does not give a buyer

The Download Warranty link in the site footer points to the Qbits support portal. Checked on 26 September 2026, that portal loads correctly and presents a form that requires a 12-digit serial number before a warranty request can be submitted.

Read that carefully, because it has a practical consequence. A serial number exists on a unit you already own. It does not exist on a quotation. The portal is therefore designed for the claim stage, not the comparison stage, and it does not publish the warranty text, the covered model, the term, the remedy or the exclusions in its public response.

So the portal is the right route once you own an inverter and something has gone wrong. At the quote stage you need a different route: ask the dealer, or ask a Qbits engineer directly, for the current controlled warranty document covering the model you have been quoted.

The eleven clauses to obtain in writing

This is the checklist. Do not accept a summary, a marketing line, or a screenshot of a datasheet table. Ask for the document that contains all eleven, and read them in this order.

#ClauseWhat to look forWhy it decides the claim
1Issuing legal entityThe full company name that is bound by the documentThe party you sue or escalate to is not always the brand on the box, and not usually your dealer
2Covered modelsThe exact model or SKU codes, matched to your quoteCover written for one series does not carry across to another
3Base termThe number of years or months before any extensionThis is the figure the public datasheets leave open
4Start eventInvoice date, dispatch date, or commissioning dateA dispatch based start can quietly consume months before your system is switched on
5RemedyRepair, replacement with like for like, replacement with a current equivalent, or creditTwo brands with the same term can offer very different remedies
6Registration deadline and processThe window, the portal or form, and what proof is requiredA missed registration window is the most avoidable way to lose cover
7ExclusionsSurge, lightning, water ingress, rodent damage, incorrect sizing, unauthorised repair, grid abnormalityExclusions decide most refused claims in Indian rooftop solar
8Transfer rulesWhether cover follows the property or the original buyerThis matters on resale and for rented rooftops
9Freight and labourWho pays to ship the unit, and who pays the technicianA free replacement unit can still leave you with a real bill
10Claim routeThe first point of contact, the escalation path, and the expected evidenceKnowing this before a failure shortens an outage
11Document revision dateThe version or effective date printed on the documentTerms change; an undated document cannot be relied on later

Print the reply, save the email it arrived in, and keep both with your invoice and commissioning certificate. Our warranty claim checklist sets out the rest of the evidence file you will want if you ever need to use it.

What most buyers get wrong here

They compare warranty periods across brands as though the number were the product. It is not. The number is the only part of a warranty that is cheap to advertise, which is precisely why it is the part that gets advertised.

A more useful comparison is to line up two written documents and read clauses 4, 5, 7 and 9 side by side. That is where the real difference between two offers usually sits, and it is the comparison our review of the longest inverter warranties in India is built around.

The second common error is assuming one warranty covers the whole rooftop. It does not. The inverter, the modules, the mounting structure and the workmanship are typically covered by different parties under different documents with different lifetimes. Installation warranty and product warranty are separate things, and the gap between them is where a surprising number of disputes live.

If the terms do not arrive

Ask once in writing. Keep the reply, or keep the silence.

If written terms for the exact quoted model still do not arrive, that is itself information about how a future claim is likely to go, and you are entitled to weigh it. Ask the same question of one competing brand and compare what each will commit to on paper. A supplier that produces a dated, model specific document quickly has told you something real about its service posture.

Also confirm who will physically attend a failure. Check whether there is a service partner near your pin code on the authorised service partner list, because the nearest technician, not the printed term, determines how long you sit without generation.

Your next step

If you are holding a Qbits quote, do this in order. Note the exact model code. Request the current written warranty for that code. Check it against the eleven clauses above. Then decide.

To get the document for a model you have been quoted, talk to a Qbits engineer with the model code and your pin code to hand, and ask for the current written warranty terms in the reply.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Qbits datasheet tell me my warranty period?
No. The note published on every Qbits product page states that the public datasheets describe an expandable warranty but do not define the base term, remedy, registration deadline, or exclusions. The datasheet is a specification document, not the warranty contract. The controlling document is the current written warranty issued for the exact model on your quote, and you should read it before you pay.
Where do I request the Qbits warranty document?
The Download Warranty link in the site footer goes to the Qbits support portal. Checked on 26 September 2026, that portal asks for a 12-digit serial number before it will process a warranty request, so it is built for an owner who already has a unit installed rather than for a buyer comparing quotes. If you are still at the quote stage, ask your dealer or a Qbits engineer to send the current written terms for the quoted model instead.
What is an expandable warranty?
It means the cover can be extended beyond whatever the base period is, usually for a fee and usually within a fixed window after purchase or commissioning. Expandable tells you the structure, not the length. Until you have the written terms you do not know the base period, the price of each extension, the deadline to buy it, or whether the extension carries the same remedy as the base cover.
Is a warranty printed on the dealer quotation enough?
Treat it as a summary, not as the contract. A line on a quotation rarely names the issuing legal entity, the start event, the exclusions, or who pays freight and labour, and the dealer who typed it is often not the party that will honour it. Ask for the manufacturer document that the quotation is summarising, and check that the model number on both matches exactly.
What should I do if nobody will send written warranty terms?
Treat that as pricing information. An inverter whose warranty terms cannot be produced before purchase should not be compared on price against one whose terms can. Put the request in writing, keep the reply or the silence, and if the terms still do not arrive, ask the same question of one competing brand and compare what each is willing to commit to on paper.
