Qbits warranty and service terms: Qbits public datasheets describe an expandable warranty but do not define a universal duration, remedy, registration deadline, service SLA, or exclusions. Obtain the current written terms for the exact model and sale before relying on a headline claim.
ALMM and inverter compliance: MNRE’s current ALMM page publishes solar PV module and cell lists, not an inverter list. Verify the inverter’s exact model documents and applicable scheme or DISCOM requirements separately.
Luminous and Sukam occupy similar territory in Indian buyers’ minds: both are Indian brands from the power-backup world. When Indian homeowners ask “which Indian brand should I choose for solar?” these names appear alongside UTL in many shortlists. But they sell different product types, so this page compares what each publishes and what to ask for, and it does not score or rank the brands.
How this comparison works
This page gives neither brand a score or a ranking. A number out of 10 or a total out of 60 would rest on judgements about price, service reach and warranty enforceability that no public source supports, and it would imply a precision the evidence cannot deliver. What replaces it is the product-type difference, the warranty and price evidence we could read, the certificate checks that apply to any inverter, and decision rules by buyer need.
Product types: what each brand lists for solar
| Product type | Luminous | Su-Kam |
|---|---|---|
| Grid-tie string inverter (net metering) | Listed, for example the NXI range (a 5 kW NXI T150 and a 3 kW NXI 130 are on its site) | None found on the pages we read |
| Solar PCU or hybrid | Solar PCU and hybrid catalogue listed | Brainy+ Solar Hybrid UPS range (models named 1250, 2100, 2500, 3500 and 5000) |
| Monitoring | Check the exact model | Check the exact model |
| Model certificates and datasheets | Verify per model | Verify per model |
A solar UPS or off-grid inverter is not automatically a grid-tied inverter that exports energy through a bidirectional meter. If you want net metering, the first question for either brand is whether the exact model is a grid-tie inverter.
Warranty as published
Luminous’s NXI 130 page (read 14 October 2026) lists 8 years standard plus 2 years extended, 10 years in total. A separate Luminous catalogue page lists 2 years base on many NXG models, with some at 3 years and extended plans sold separately. The two statements describe different series, so read the term for the exact series and model you are quoted.
We could not find a warranty term on the Su-Kam product pages we read. In either case, ask for the warranty card or document for the exact model: the term, the remedy (repair or replacement), the registration deadline, who pays labour and freight, and the exclusions. See the solar inverter warranty guide.
Service network
We found no comparable published service-time or coverage figures for the two brands, so none are quoted. Luminous’s site reports eight manufacturing units, which is a company-wide statement and not a service claim; Su-Kam’s site names a Gurugram head office in one place and Baddi as a head office in another. Ask each seller for the named service partner for your pincode, the committed time from a logged ticket to a repaired or replaced unit and who pays freight and labour, in writing. The solar service SLA guide explains how to test a service promise.
Price evidence
We quote no price gap. One dated listing: Luminous’s own page for the NXI 130 3 kW inverter showed ₹24,499 including taxes (MRP ₹72,000) on 14 October 2026. We found no dated Su-Kam grid-tie listing to set against it, and the two are different product types in any case. Get dated, itemised quotes for the exact models, with the same scope and warranty.
Certification and PM Surya Ghar eligibility
MNRE’s ALMM lists cover solar modules and cells, not inverters, so no inverter is ALMM listed. For a PM Surya Ghar installation the inverter question is whether the exact model has current BIS registration and test certificates, and whether your DISCOM accepts it. Ask each seller for the exact model’s BIS registration and test reports, match the model number to the invoice and confirm the DISCOM’s acceptance before buying.
Which to choose when
- You want net metering and a PM Surya Ghar system: shortlist grid-tie inverters and ask each brand for the exact model, its certificates and its written warranty.
- You want a backup-led solar UPS: compare hybrid and PCU products, including battery requirements and the output rating, and ask for the exact unit’s documents.
- You choose by price: compare dated quotes for the same type and scope, and weigh the warranty term and remedy against the price difference.
- You choose by service access: use each brand’s locator for your pincode and get a named service contact and a committed response time in writing.
Common Mistakes When Choosing Between These Brands
- Assuming UPS reliability equals solar inverter reliability: grid-tied operation with continuous MPPT is a different engineering job from standby backup, so judge the exact model on its documents.
- Comparing unlike product types: a solar hybrid UPS and a grid-tie string inverter do different jobs, so compare like with like.
- Buying on price alone: a lower upfront price can mean a shorter or narrower warranty; compare the written terms.
- Treating a brand name as a certificate: MNRE’s current page publishes PV module and cell lists, not an inverter list. Verify the exact module and cell models and check inverter documents separately.
- Ignoring monitoring: without real-time monitoring, faults are detected late, so confirm what the exact model offers.
Where Qbits Fits
- Hybrid Inverters: Review current QBH model documents and confirm the exact battery, firmware, PV, backup-output, transfer, communication, warranty and project requirements in writing.
- Why Qbits: Qbits’ own overview of its inverter range and design approach.
- Authorised Service Partners: Search the current directory, then confirm partner status, location coverage, service scope, response process and fees in writing.
For buyers who want to compare a Qbits quote against Luminous and Sukam, request a quote at contact-us and ask for the written warranty terms for the exact model. Then compare itemised total cost, including warranty terms and service response, across all three.
